Pueblo Viejo JV

Pueblo Viejo is located 100 km northwest of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. One of the largest gold assets in the world, it began commercial production in 2013. Pueblo Viejo is operated by Barrick Gold Corporation, which owns 60 percent. Newmont obtained 40 percent ownership of Pueblo Viejo after acquiring Goldcorp in 2019. Pueblo Viejo includes two open pits, a processing plant and a tailings storage facility. Ore is removed from the open pit using a conventional truck and shovel method, then crushed, ground and processed in the carbon-in-leach circuit in the mill.

Newmont accounts for Pueblo Viejo as an equity method investment. Attributable performance measures include Newmont’s mining operations and projects and the Company’s share from Pueblo Viejo. Income and expenses of equity method investments are included in Equity income (loss) of affiliates under U.S. GAAP reporting standards.
